At the beginning of December, leading representatives from the fields of solar, storage technology and the digital economy met at the Digital Solar & Storage conference in Munich, an event organized by SolarPower Europe. This was the first time the event had been held and it provided an impressive insight into the digitalization of the energy supply.
The new energy world is smart, connected and decentralized. More and more people are becoming “prosumers” who are active on completely new platforms and utilize their energy efficiently by coupling photovoltaic and wind turbine systems with storage systems and loads.
Digitalization will enable new opportunities and business models across the entire energy sector. In order to use the full potential, we will need innovative technological solutions. SMA CTO and COO Jürgen Reinert explains what impact this will have on system technology.
All over the world, digitalization is revolutionizing energy production and supply – and will drive the continued growth of solar PV and other renewable energy sources. What will the energy supply of tomorrow look like? Jochen Schneider, EVP Energy Services at SMA, has some answers.
Digitization is becoming part of life in an ever increasing number of areas — and will even further accelerate the decentralization of energy supply. It is therefore no wonder that the subject is at the top of the agenda of SolarPower Europe, the European photovoltaics trade association. Detlef Beister, Business Development Manager at SMA, is also part of this.
The first e-mobility Plugfest of the EEBUS initiative in June is now followed by the second one. Put to the test: All generators and loads in the home are interconnected to communicate via energy management platforms, such as ennexOS from SMA. PV systems, heating, home appliances and even charging stations for electric cars will thus have to be optimally connected with each other for optimized use of energy in all areas of application.
SolarPower Europe has today published our “Regulatory asks on solar and digitalisation” to ensure that policy-makers support the transition to a fully digitalisation solar offering. Thanks to the whole team for this pioneering document.
